Always a Texas gal at heart and a native of my beloved city of Dallas, I attended school in the beautiful Hill Country of San Marcos at Texas State University, graduating at the age of 20 with a degree in Mass Communications, Print Journalism. From there, I started out as a freelance writer before soon finding a home as an editor at a new start-up magazine in Houston. Within a year, this led to a stint as their Executive Editor, where I stayed quite busy managing all editorial facets of the publication. Next, I excitedly joined Modern Luxury Media as a Senior Editor for their luxury lifestyle publication, HOUSTON magazine, and simultaneously served as Editor-in-Chief for Houston Brides. I was proud to launch the very first issue of the latter, and prided myself on quickly establishing it as one of the leading matrimonial resources in the area.
When my husband, an electrical engineer, was offered a one-year job post in Aberdeen, Scotland, we packed up shop and moved across the pond for a cultural and professional adventure. In between traveling the UK and Europe on weekends, I learned all about kilts, Scottish weddings and haggis as I served as an editorial consultant and writer for the Grampian Wedding Directory, Aberdeen's top bridal magazine. I also wrote for various UK publications as well as wedding magazines across the U.S., and served as Sales & Marketing Coordinator for a local Scottish events management company, h-events.
Upon returning to the U.S. in 2010, I decided I enjoyed freelancing so much and the variety that it provided so I launched my own company, Amber Bell Creative Freelance. Several years later, my husband and I welcomed quadruplets into the world (one boy and three girls!) and adapted to life as an "instant family" of six. Even with the added company, I've continued freelancing and working with clients on a regional, national and even global scale, providing writing, editing and online services to a variety of publishing entities.
